NATURAL BRIDGE IS STUNNING! I have been obsessed with Natural Bridge State park since I was a kid. It is a State Park in Rockbridge County, Virginia and it’s pretty spectacular. Natural Bridge is a 215 foot tall, naturally occurring arch made out of limestone gorge carved out by Cedar Creek *mouth drops*!
WOW!
Natural Bridge, VA is 2 hours away from us in Richmond. If you follow us on Instagram, you know that Dominique has a map of Virginia that she enjoys using. We used only that map to get us from Richmond all the way to Natural Bridge. Sooooo cool!
My favorite part about road trips in Virginia is watching the landscape change so much. I loved to see the hilly grass fields in Richmond become mountainous terrain as we neared closer and closer to Natural Bridge.

There is a $9 admission into Natural Bridge. A few sets of stairs and a ~0.3 mile walk takes you to the massive bridge.
Did I mention that Natural Bridge is stunning?! You cannot fully fathom how spectacular the bridge is until you are there. We visited Natural Bridge in the Spring, April 2021. Along the creek, you will see lush greenery, and beautiful wildflowers like Columbine and Virginia Bluebells. You might see a few animals like great blue herons and green herons and a variety of birds like woodpeckers and owls. We even saw a little salamander relaxing in the sun. As we approached the waterfall (the end of the 0.8 mile hike) we were greeted by a kaleidoscope of butterflies. It was the perfect end to our hike to the waterfall!

FUN FACT: YOU CAN DRIVE ATOP THE BRIDGE AT NATURAL BRIDGE STATE PARK!
After visiting the park, we utilized a designated picnic area. To our surprise, we were still able to use them even during the Covid-19 pandemic. We visited the park on a Wednesday so the traffic was low. We did not have to share much of the park, the trail or the picnic areas with anyone. It was an enjoyable end to our trip to Natural Bridge.
